Just a few steps away from James Street, the Essa space is located on Robertson Street, Fortitude Valley.
Hidden behind a brass mesh screen lies Essa. Walking into the space is like discovering a cave, and inside the cave is this amazing light and garden at the end. The place is a mood, fitted out in darkened timber and defined by an enormous Italian green marble bar running down one side. It is made up of existing raw elements such as exposed brickwork and old structural beams, yet contains limited luxurious additions to create a handsome and moody interior. It is a produce-led dining experience with an impressive wood fired grill that influenced the wood-fired common theme on the menu.
Craig Channon from local award-winning architecture practice Channon Architects, designed Essa. His design has considered the natural environment which reflects Essa’s ethos of sustainability and creates a hidden dining space that transports you to the likes of New York City.
